Windows Terminal is a free and open source terminal emulator app and SSH/telnet client developed by Microsoft for Windows, it's modern and well-designed.
The download has been tested by an editor here on a PC and a list of features has been compiled; see below. We've also created some screenshots of Windows Terminal to illustrate the user interface and show the overall usage and features of this terminal emulation program.
Fast and efficient terminal application for use on Windows
This is the version of Windows Terminal which avoids installation from the Windows store.
The Windows Terminal is a modern, fast, efficient, powerful, and productive terminal application for users of command-line tools and shells like Command Prompt, PowerShell, and WSL. Windows Subsystem for Linux is Microsoft's speak for Linux shell.
I can be used as free development kit software and is released directly by Microsoft through github.
Its main features include multiple tabs, panes, Unicode and UTF-8 character support, a GPU accelerated text rendering engine, and custom themes, styles, and configurations.
The Terminal will also need to meet our goals and measures to ensure it remains fast and efficient, and doesn't consume vast amounts of memory or power.

What version of Windows can Windows Terminal run on?
Windows Terminal can be used on a computer running Windows 11 or Windows 10. Previous versions of the OS shouldn't be a problem with Windows 8 and Windows 7 having been tested. It comes in both 32-bit and 64-bit downloads.
